We Should All Be Walking During Our Lunch Break

Did you know that 50% of London office workers will only see a maximum of 30 minutes of sun per day during the winter months?

It’s easy for bad habits to form at work, particularly during the winter months, when it's cold outside and far too easy to slip into the routine of eating your lunch at your desk in your nice warm office and avoiding the cold weather outside every day, but this routine is harming your health.

We all know the importance of movement for our physical health/weight management, but did you know that numerous studies have also shown that getting out and going for a walk at lunch time will not only boost your productivity, concentration and enjoyment at work, but also improve your mental health too (especially if the sun is shining).

There are a whole host of health concerns related to decreased sun exposure, one of which is a drop in your serotonin levels. Of the approximately 40 million brain cells you possess, most are influenced either directly or indirectly by serotonin. This includes brain cells related to mood, sexual desire and function, appetite, sleep, memory and learning and temperature regulation.

A thirty minute walk at lunch time is a small price to pay for a healthier mind, body and sex life.
