“I’m new to this whole dieting thing. Where should I start?”

It's the 11th of January and I'm already sick of hearing about peoples fad diets. The last five fad diets you've tried haven't worked, what makes you think this new super-diet is going to work this time?

If you're on a mission to eat better and are ready for change it can often prove difficult knowing where, or even how to start, especially with all the nonsense online these days.

The good news is you don't need a major overhaul from day one.

You don't need to 'go keto' or 'eliminate sugar'

What you probably need right now is to address any major nutrient or vitamin deficiencies, because until these are addressed your body simply won't function as it should and committing to a diet without the right foundations in place will ultimately make your chances of adherence less likely.

So, what are the major nutrient or vitamin deficiencies to look out for?

For most people reading this, you probably need to make sure you're consuming a bit more protein, enough vitamins/minerals, alongside some added healthy fats and some more water wouldn't hurt!

Make these your priorities when it comes to your nutrition and your body will be working better in no time.

Once you've addressed your nutritional deficiencies* you can start focusing on things like food quality and quantity.

*You don't have to address all your nutritional deficiencies at once, take your time, go slow, be systematic about it and take it one step at a time.
